St. Elmo-Brownstown and CHBC finished off the regular season Friday night with the last Egyptian Illini Conference matchup of the season and the Eagles rode an early lead to a 66-50 win over the Bobcats to capture the conference championship. Both teams got their offense moving early, but SEB outscored CHBC 18-13 in the first quarter for the lead. Another five point advantage for the Eagles in the second quarter pushed that lead out to 33-23 at halftime. CHBC and SEB played even in the third quarter, both putting 12 points on the scoreboard as the Eagles maintained a ten point lead over the Bobcats, 45-35, to start the fourth quarter. The two teams had their best scoring quarters in the fourth as SEB outscored CHBC 21-15 and finished off the 66-50 win. SEB improves to 16-13 on the season and finishes 5-0 in the EIC. CHBC finishes the regular season at 10-19 and goes 3-2 in the EIC. Both teams begin postseason play on Monday as SEB hosts Wayne City at 6:00pm while CHBC will be on the road to play at Hume Shiloh at 6:00pm.
