Altamont wrapped up the regular season with a big National Trail Conference win over Windsor/Stew-Stras, 76-40, on Friday night while celebrating Senior Night. Prior to the game, senior basketball players Cooper Pals, Kade Milleville and Jacob Johnson were honored along with senior cheerleaders and chiefs, dance team members and band members. Once the game got underway, the Indians got out to a 17-9 first quarter lead with Cooper McManaway’s eight points and Kade Milleville’s five points in the quarter leading the way. Seven different Altamont players would score in the second quarter as Parker Bell hit for six points off the bench, Milleville added on six points and Zaine Miller had five points and the Indians outscored the Hatchets 25-11 to push their lead out to 42-20 at halftime. The Altamont offense kept the momentum going in the third quarter as Jacob Johnson led a 22-10 run by the Indians with six points in the quarter and their lead ballooned to 64-30 by the end of the quarter. A final 12-10 outscoring of WSS in the fourth quarter sealed the win for the Indians, 76-40, to close out their regular season schedule. Altamont finishes the regular season at 20-10, the 11th time in Coach John Niebrugge’s 14 seasons that they’ve had 20 wins or more in a season. They also finish NTC play at 7-2. Altamont will be at home for the start of the postseason as they host their own 1A Regional, beginning with a quarterfinal matchup on Monday at 6:30pm against Sandoval.
