Brownstown-St. Elmo got off to a slow start, but quickly made adjustments and stormed away from Dieterich to get a 50-19 win in the Championship game of the North Clay 1A Regional on Thursday night. After falling behind 5-0 to start the game, the Lady Bombers went on a 7-0 run to take their first lead of the game, 7-5. The Movin’ Maroons hit back to back baskets to regain the lead 9-7 but BSE again fought back to go up 10-9 to end the first quarter. The Lady Bombers would begin their pull away from Dieterich in the second quarter, outscoring the Maroons 14-4 as Madi Miller led the charge with seven points and BSE held the lead 24-13 at halftime. The Lady Bombers turned up the pressure coming out from the break as Presley Williams, Addie Sasse and Danika Ramsey all forced early Dieterich turnovers in the quarter and BSE held the Maroons to just five points in the quarter. Dayana Haslett led the Lady Bombers 16-5 run with 11 points and BSE pushed their lead out the 40-18 to end the third quarter. The Bombers were able to push the game into running clock territory in the fourth quarter and allowed just a free throw to Dieterich in the final eight minutes as they closed out the 50-19 win and snag their second straight Regional Championship and the program’s third title overall. BSE is now 29-3 on the season and will look to try and get their 30th win when they compete in the first semifinal game of the Wayne City Sectional on Tuesday at 6:00pm. They will have to wait until tonight to find out their opponent as Christopher and Gallatin County will play in the Championship game of the Gallatin County Regional with the winner to take on BSE.
