The Vandalia wrestlers have completed preliminary round action at the IHSA Individual State Wrestling Tournament in Champaign. Six wrestlers will advance on to the Championship Semifinals Thursday evening at 5:30pm while four others suffered preliminary round losses and will not wrestle again until Friday morning when the First Round of Wrestlebacks gets underway at 9:00am.
106lbs – Kaiden Daugherty: Daugherty lost to Nate Lower of Taylor Ridge Rockridge by Fall in 4:33 in the Preliminary Round. Daughterty will now go to the First Round of Wrestlebacks on Friday morning where he will face Sebastian Lara of Lisle.
120lbs – Riley Hinton: Hinton lost to Jack Ragan of Dixon by Decision, 7-0, in the Preliminary Round. Hinton will now go to the First Round of Wrestlebacks on Friday morning where he will face Briley Carter of Clinton.
125lbs – Preston Waughtel: Waughtel beat Isaiah Perez of Oregon by Tech Fall (17-0 in 2:12) in the Preliminary Round. Waughtel advances to the Championship Quarterfinals to face Owen Petersen of Coal City on Thursday evening.
132lbs – Max Philpot: Philpot beat Camden Brucker of GCMS by Tech Fall (16-1 in 2:28) in the Preliminary Round. Philpot advances to the Championship Quarterfinals to face Wyatt Franckowiak of Richmond Burton on Thursday evening.
138lbs – Brody Matthews: Matthews beat Alex Kostecka of Kankakee McNamara by Fall in 3:40 in the Preliminary Round. Matthews advances to the Championship Quarterfinals to face Landen Lage of GCMS on Thursday evening.
144lbs – Eli Mabry: Mabry lost to Arrison Bauer of Lena-Winslow by Major Decision, 15-2, in the Preliminary Round. Mabry will now go to the First Round of Wrestlebacks on Friday morning where he will face Johnny Consuegra-Lopez of Lisle.
150lbs – Dade Kleinik: Kleinik beat Tanner Hansen of Johnsburg by Fall in 1:29 in the Preliminary Round. Kleinik advances to the Championship Quarterfinals to face Cale Hilbing of Quincy Notre Dame on Thursday evening.
157lbs – Dillon Hinton: Hinton beat Kaden Collins of Stanford Olympia in 2:44 in the Preliminary Round. Hinton advances to the Championship Quarterfinals to face Chase Siguenza of Wheaton St. Francis on Thursday evening.
165lbs – Zayne Zinkgraf: Zinkgraf lost to Casey Etheridge of Princeton by Tech Fall (15-0 in 2:14) in in the Preliminary Round. Zinkgraf will now go to the First Round of Wrestlebacks on Friday morning where he will face Lucas Hetman of Manteno.
190lbs – Ross Miller: Miller beat Sami Marrero of Horizon/Southwest Chicago by Decision, 5-1, in the Preliminary Round. Miller advances to the Championship Quarterfinals to face Noah Stout of Morrison on Thursday evening.
