The Vandalia Vandals jumped out to a 9-1 lead early in the first quarter and never looked back, coming away with a decisive 69-38 win over the Hillsboro Hiltoppers. The Vandals jumped out to an early 9-1 lead just over two minutes in, and would end the quarter on a 15-14 run to end the first quarter with a 24-15 lead. Vandalia would turn up the defensive intensity in the second quarter, going on an 18-8 run to end the first half with a 42-23 lead. The Vandals would keep their momentum going in the third quarter, holding the Toppers to just 6 points, on the way to a 17-6 scoring advantage to enter the fourth quarter with a 59-29 lead. Vandalia would narrowly outscore Hillsboro 10-9 in the fourth quarter, but it would be enough to come away with the 69-38 win. The win improves the Vandals to 17-13 on the season, and 7-1 in SCC play. Vandalia has now won seven of its last eight games and will wrap up the regular season on Friday, taking on Pana for Senior Night.
