With the last week of the boys basketball regular season starting today, the IHSA released the official postseason seeds and pairings at the end of last week. In Class 2A, #7 seed Vandalia will host their own 2A Regional and will get to be at home in the quarterfinal round, hosting #10 seed Flora on Monday, February 23 at a time still to be determined. The two teams have met twice already this season with the Vandals getting a 64-61 win in overtime on December 27 but Flora beat the Vandals 58-28 on January 17. The winner of the regional quarterfinal matchup will move on to face Effingham St. Anthony on Wednesday, February 25 at 6:00pm at Vandalia.
In Class 1A, third-seeded Altamont will host its Regional and will face #14 seed Sandoval on Monday, February 23 at 6:30pm in the quarterfinals. The winner of that quarterfinal will face the Cisne/Edwards County quarterfinal winner at 7:30pm on Wednesday, February 25 at 7:30pm. #7 seed St. Elmo-Brownstown will host its quarterfinal game as part of the Altamont Regional and will take on #10 Wayne City on Monday, February 23 at 6:00pm and that winner of that game will take on the Christ Our Rock/Webber winner on Wednesday, February 25 at 6:00pm.
Also in Class 1A, #16 seed Ramsey, #13 seed South Central and #5 seed Dieterich will be in the North Clay Regional. Ramsey will be at #1 seed Lawrenceville on Monday, February 23 at 6:00pm with the winner to take on the winner of Patoka-Odin/Red Hill on Wednesday, February 25 at 6:00pm in the first semifinal. #13 seed South Central will be at #4 seed North Clay on Monday, February 23 at 7:00pm and Dieterich will host #12 Grayville on Monday, February 23 at 6:00pm. The Patoka-Odin/Red Hill winner will face the Dieterich/Grayville winner on Wednesday, February 25 at 7:30pm in the second semifinal.
CHBC and Mulberry Grove will be the lone area 1A teams shipped away from other area teams for the postseason. CHBC will be in the Tuscola 1A Regional and the 9th seeded Bobcats will be at #8 Hume Shiloh for the their quarterfinal game on Monday, February 23 at a time still to be announced. The winner will face the winner of the Martinsville/Tuscola quarterfinal in the regional’s first semifinal game on Wednesday, February 25 at 6:00pm. Mulberry Grove will be in the Bunker Hill Regional. The 15th seeded Aces will be at Carlyle for their quarterfinal matchup on Monday, February 23 at a time still to be announced. The winner will move into the semifinals to face the winner of the Madison/Edinburg quarterfinal on Wednesday, February 25 at 6:00pm.
