Mulberry Grove Comeback Attempt Comes Up Short, South Central Gets Close Win


South Central got out to a 13 point lead early but Mulberry Grove put up a fight in the fourth quarter trying to make a comeback, but the Cougars held off the Aces for the 45-41 win. South Central surged out to an 18-5 lead in the first quarter, but Mulberry Grove did outscore the Cougars 12-10 in the second quarter to cut it to an 11 point lead at halftime, 28-17. The third quarter was an even battle as each team hit for a three-pointer, scored another basket and each hit four free throws for nine points in the quarter as South Central maintained their lead, 37-26, to end the third quarter. The Aces found some offensive flow in the fourth quarter and went on a 15-8 run to close up their deficit but fell just short of a full comeback, and South Central held off Mulberry Grove for the 45-41 win. South Central moves to 10-19 on the season and will be on the road on Tuesday to take on OPH. Mulberry Grove is now 6-17 on the season and will be home on Monday to take on Gillespie at 3:00pm.
