Gray, Swyers Move to Wrestlebacks After First Rounds of Girls Wrestling Sectional at North Mac

Vandalia girls wrestlers Violet Gray and Brynn Swyers will have to work their way through wrestlebacks at the North Mac Individual Sectional on Saturday after suffering losses in Championship Round 2 on Friday night. At 155lbs, Gray received a First Round BYE and then faced Nahima Mateo of Murphysboro in in the Championship Quarterfinals and suffered a loss by Fall in 48 seconds. That drops her to Wrestlebacks where she is set to face Libby Scheland of Petersburg PORTA in her opening matchup of the day today. At 170lbs, Swyers received a First Round BYE and then faced Janylah Holman of Cahokia in the Championship Quarterfinals and suffered a loss by Fall in 4:51. Swyers drops into Wrestlebacks where she will face Geeta Jonardhan of Edwardsville this morning in her first matchup. Gray and Swyers need to work their way back to a top 4 finish to earn a spot at the Girls State Finals.
