South Central girls basketball came back from seven points down to start the fourth quarter to get a 44-40 win over Sandoval on Thursday night, snapping a nine-game losing streak. The first quarter was a tight one with Sandoval just outscoring South Central 8-6 in the frame. The Lady Cougars were again outscored in the second, 19-14, as they fell behind by seven points, 27-20 at halftime. The third quarter was again a tight one with each team putting nine points on the scoreboard which left South Central still trailing by seven points, 36-29 at the end of the third quarter. The Lady Cougars stiffened their defense in the fourth quarter and held Sandoval to just four points in the quarter while South Central hit for eight points from the floor and went 7 of 11 from the free throw line to outscore the Blackhawks 15-4 as they got the comeback win, 44-40. South Central ends the regular season at 5-18. They will begin their postseason on Saturday as they travel to Lawrenceville for the quarterfinal round, taking on the host Lady Indians at 5:00pm.
