The Vandalia Lady Vandals could not hold on to their early first-quarter lead, but ultimately fell to the Litchfield Lady Purple Panthers 59-54 on Monday night. Before the game, the Lady Vandals honored seniors Cheyenne Flowers, Bailey Denning, Ollie Whitehead, and Rozlyn Willenborg. The two teams traded baskets, but the Lady Vandals would end the first 8 minutes of play with a slim 17-15 advantage. Litchfield would start to mount a lead in the second quarter, using a 21-15 scoring advantage to enter halftime with a 36-32 lead. Vandalia would begin to chip away at the deficit, going on a 10-8 run in the third to enter the fourth quarter trailing 44-42. The Lady Vandals would battle back in the fourth quarter, ultimately tying the game with 2:30 left in the fourth, but would go on to score just one point the remainder of the game, as they would fall 59-54. The loss drops Vandalia to 8-21 and 0-8 in SCC play. The Lady Vandals will wrap up the regular season on Thursday, going on the road to take on Greenville.
