South Central stayed with St,. Anthony for one quarter but had no answer for the Bulldogs on the remaining three quarters as they suffered a 72-25 loss in the quarterfinals of the National Trail Conference Tournament on Wednesday night. The Cougars matched the Bulldogs basket for basket in the first quarter, trailing just 15-13 at the end of the quarter. The St. Anthony made some adjustments and cranked things up on both sides of the ball in the second quarter, outscoring South Central 21-5 as the Cougars were doubled up at halftime, 36-18. South Central was held to its lowest scoring quarter in the third with just three points as their deficit grew to 60-21 by the end of the third quarter. A 12-4 run by St. Anthony in the fourth quarter capped off the loss for South Central, 72-25. South Central moves to 8-14 on the season and they drop into the Consolation bracket where they will take on Windsor/Stew-Stras at 6:15pm on Friday night.
