The South Central Cougars used a big fourth-quarter surge to get a 45-42 comeback win over the St. Elmo/Brownstown Eagles in the second play-in game of the 2026 NTC Tournament. South Central would get the first basket on the board and would end the quarter with an 8-4 lead. The two teams would trade baskets in the second quarter, with the Cougars narrowly outscoring the Eagles 12-11 to enter halftime with a 20-15 lead. SEB would turn up the intensity in the third quarter, going on a 17-8 run to go into the fourth quarter with a 32-28 lead. The fourth quarter would be all South Central, as the Cougars would go on a 17-10 run, with Westin Neilson scoring 12 points, including the go-ahead three-pointer, to help the Cougars close out the 45-42 win. The win improves South Central to 8-13 on the season. The Cougars will be back in action on Wednesday to take on St. Anthony. The loss drops SEB to 11-11 on the season. The Eagles will be back in action on Thursday to take on CHBC.
