South Central scored more points from the free throw line than from the floor as the Lady Cougars fell to North Clay 29-19 in a low scoring seventh place game at the National Trail Conference Girls Basketball Tournament on Saturday morning. South Central took a slim 6-5 lead at the end of the first quarter, but North Clay just outscored the Lady Cougars in the second quarter, 6-5, to tie things up at 11-11 at halftime. The game remained tight in the third quarter with North Clay taking a one point lead, 18-17, but South Central was held to just two points in the fourth quarter as the Cardinals got a little separation and beat the Lady Cougars 29-19. South Central hit just four shots from the floor for nine points while they went 10 for 23 from the free throw line. South Central drops to 4-12 on the season and will be on the road on Monday when they have a tough National Trail Conference matchup with St. Anthony in Effingham.
