Dieterich came up just short on Saturday falling 37-35 to Neoga in the Fifth Place game of the National Trail Conference Girls Basketball Tournament. The Maroons and Indians matched each other basket for basket through the first quarter and again in the second quarter as they were tied up 8-8 to end the first and 20-20 at halftime. The Lady Maroons were able to take a slim one-point lead 26-25 at the end of the third quarter but Neoga outscored Dieterich 12-9 in the fourth quarter as the Maroons suffered the two-point loss, 37-35. Dieterich is 15-8 on the season and will be off until Thursday when they face South Central in regular season conference action. The two teams met just a handful of days ago in the NTC tournament with Dieterich getting a 34-30 win.
