BSE Takes On Cumberland for NTC Championship Today, Broadcast on WKRV

Brownstown-St. Elmo is back in the title game of the National Trail Conference Girls Basketball Tournament and will take on an opponent they just beat in a title game of another tournament just a little under four weeks ago. BSE will face Cumberland today in the Championship game at 1:30pm and it will be the third meeting of the two teams this season. After opening up the season against each other on November 17 with the Lady Bombers pulling out a 36-33 win, the story was much different when they met in the Championship of the Dieterich Holiday Tournament on December 29. In that matchup, BSE took control of the game in the second quarter and ran away from the Lady Pirates for a dominating 71-31 win. This week BSE picked up a 55-18 win over South Central and a 46-30 win over Altamont to return to the title game after suffering a tough five-point loss in last year’s Championship to St. Anthony. Cumberland beat Neoga 67-42 and St. Anthony 49-39 to earn its spot in the Championship in its first season in the NTC.
