The Vandalia Lady Vandals were able to overcome a late-game turnover to come away with a 48-46 win over the Greenville Lady Comets in the Vandalia Girls Midwinter Tournament on Thursday night. The Lady Vandals would open up the game on a 10-2 run and would finish the quarter with a 17-9 lead. Greenville would respond in the second quarter, going on a 16-10 run, but Vandalia would still enter halftime with a 27-25 lead. The Lady Comets would come out in the third quarter with an 11-7 advantage and would enter the fourth quarter with a 36-34 lead. The fourth quarter would be a back-and-forth affair, but a 10-point quarter from Bella Walk, and a pair of baskets from Dakira Brown and Rebekah Miller would give the Lady Vandals a 48-46 lead with 4 seconds left. Greenville would force a turnover and had a shot at the buzzer to win the game, but the shot would rim out, giving Vandalia the 48-46 lead. The win improves the Lady Vandals to 8-15 on the season. Vandalia will be back in action on Saturday to take on Mattoon for fifth place in the Vandalia Midwinter Tournament.
