Vandalia used scoring advantages in the second and third quarter to pull away from Ramsey-Mulberry Grove and get a 61-49 win on Wednesday night at Mulberry Grove High School. The game was a tight battle to start off as the Lady Rams put their offense in the hands of senior Daisy Allen who scored all 12 of their points in the quarter while Vandalia spread out 12 points among four players including four each from Bella Walk and Ollie Whitehead as the game was locked in a 12-12 tie to start the second quarter. The Lady Vandals were able to take the lead and hold it at halftime, outscoring Ramsey 20-14 in the quarter behind an 11 point run by Walk as they took a 32-26 lead at the half. Vandalia again outscored the Lady Rams in the third quarter, 17-11, lead by Whitehead with nine points while Ramsey had Kelli Cook get going with five points in the frame as Vandalia’s lead pushed out to 49-37 to end the third. The game tightened up a bit in the fourth quarter as Cook hit another six points for Ramsey while Whitehead hit for another 10 points for Vandalia as they closed out the 63-49 win. Vandalia improves to 6-13 on the season and will be back in action tonight at Gillespie for a South Central Conference matchup. Ramsey drops to 2-14 on the season and they go back on the road to take on Oblong-Palestine-Hutsonville.
