Slow Offensive First Half Holds CHBC Back in Loss at Macon Meridian


CHBC was held to single digit scoring in the first three quarters as they suffered a 45-33 loss at Macon Meridian on Wednesday night. Lena Bowlin and Harper Lilly each put four points up in the first quarter to account for the Lady Bobcats’ points as they trailed 15-8 at the end of the first. CHBC was outscored 14-7 and their deficit grew to 29-15 at halftime. The Lady Bobcats defense was able to slow down the Lady Hawks in the third quarter, outscoring Meridian 8-6 in the quarter with Ethel Stuckemeyer putting in four points as CHBC still trailed 35-23 to start the fourth quarter. The final eight minutes were a back and forth battle as the two teams matched each other basket for basket, but with CHBC unable to pull ahead and get some distance, they stayed behind by 12 points and suffered the 45-33 loss. The Lady Bobcats are now 3-14 on the season and will be off until Monday when they begin play in the National Trail Conference Tournament, taking on South Central at 10:00am.
