St. Elmo-Brownstown boys fell behind in the first half and despite a stronger second half, couldn’t catch Cumberland as the Eagles were handed a 59-42 loss at home on Tuesday. SEB was outscored 18-10 in the first quarter and 19-13 in the second quarter as they trailed 37-23 at halftime. They would be outscore again in the third quarter, but only by three points, 19-16, as they trailed 56-39 at the end of the quarter. Scoring for both teams slowed way down in the fourth as both the Eagles and Pirates were only able to put three points on the scoreboard in the quarter and Cumberland sealed the 59-42 in over SEB. The Eagles are now 8-9 on the season and 1-4 in the NTC. They will switch to Egyptian Illini Conference play on Friday when they go on the road to take on Patoka-Odin, The two teams have met once already this year with SEB beating the Warriors 51-43 during the St. Elmo Holiday Tournament on December 17.
