Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City moved to 2-0 in Egyptian Illini Conference play with a 57-43 win over Martinsville at home on Tuesday night. The Bobcats got off to a bit of a slow start, trailing the BlueStreaks 14-7 after the first quarter but they would get going a little bit more in the second quarter to outscore Martinsville 11-8 and pull within four points at halftime, 22-18. CHBC kept things rolling into the third quarter for a 19-14 run that would give them the one point lead, 37-36, heading into the fourth quarter. The last eight minutes of the game were all CHBC as they held the BlueStreaks to just seven points on a pair of three-pointers and a free throw. The Bobcats tacked up 20 points on the board in the quarter as they pulled away for the 57-43 win. CHBC is now 8-10 on the season and 2-0 in the EIC. They go back to National Trail Conference play on Friday as they have tough matchup on the road when they take on the Cumberland Pirates.
