CHBC came away with their first National Trail Conference win of the season on Monday night after a buzzer beater from Griffin Vaughn gave the Bobcats a 45-44 win over Neoga at home. CHBC trailed early being held to just seven first quarter points, five of them from Remington Howell, as they were down 13-7 at the end of the first quarter. The Bobcats were again held to single digit scoring in the second quarter only putting up eight in the quarter with four of those from Vaughn as they trailed 23-15 at halftime. CHBC started closing the gap between them and the Indians in the third quarter as they used a 12-7 run sparked by seven points from Howell to pull within a possession of Neoga, trailing just 30-27 at the end of the third quarter. The Bobcats kept their momentum going in the fourth quarter and continued to battle with the Indians, trailing 43-44 as the seconds ticked down before Vaughn hit a shot at the buzzer to put CHBC on top 45-44 for the win. CHBC improves to 7-10 on the season and is now 1-3 in the NTC. They get right back into action tonight as they host Martinsville in Egyptian Illini Conference action at home.
