The Vandalia Vandals struggled with turnovers and foul trouble on the road, as they fell to the Salem Wildcats 68-45 on Saturday. The two teams would trade baskets in the first quarter, but a late 4-0 run from the Wildcats would help them take a slip 16-12 lead after one quarter of play. Vandalia and Salem would continue to trade baskets, with Salem once again finding a slim 15-13 quarter advantage to lead 31-25 at halftime. The Vandals would be outscored 20-14 in the third quarter, with 12 of the points coming from Andrew Casey, and they would enter the fourth quarter trailing 51-39. The Wildcats would put the game away in the fourth quarter with a 17-6 run, to come away with the 68-45 win. The loss drops the Vandals to 9-9 on the season. Vandalia will have a pair of home games this week, taking on Hamilton County on Tuesday, and Flora on Friday.
