After an unexpected extension to their holiday break, South Central boys basketball returned to the court on Friday and picked up a 68-63 win at home over Cisne. The game was a close battle for the first eight minutes as the teams were gridlocked in a 15-15 tie at the end of the first quarter with Hudson Moore getting off to a hot start with 11 of the South Central points in the quarter. Westin Neilson would be the one to catch fire in the second quarter with a trio of three and a total of 11 points in the quarter while Moore tacked on seven more points and the Cougars 21-12 run gave them a 36-27 lead at halftime. South Central was outscored 15-14 in the third quarter despite another six points each from Moore and Neilson as the Cougars continued to hold the lead, 50-42. Brock Sigrist hit for six points in the fourth quarter for South Central as the Cougars were again outscored 21-18, but they were able to hold off the Lions enough to get the 68-63 win. South Central improves to 7-9 on the season and they will be in action again on Tuesday as they will host Windsor/Stew-Stras in National Trail Conference action.
