BSE Uses Strong First Half to Beat Vandalia on Monday Night


Brownstown-St. Elmo put up 53 points in the first half and Vandalia’s two 20-point scoring performances were not enough to catch the Lady Bombers as BSE beat Vandalia 75-44 on Monday night. BSE got off to a very quick start outscoring the Lady Vandals 29-12 in the first quarter as Dayana Haslett put in 14 points and Madi Miller had 8 points for BSE in the quarter and Bella Walk hit a trio of three-pointers for Vandalia. The Lady Bombers continued their strong start with another 24 points in the second quarter, with six points each from Presley Williams and Addie Sasse while Ollie Whitehead scored eight of Vandalia’s 10 points in the quarter with BSE leading Vandalia 53-22 at halftime. The Lady Vandals came out with some urgency in the third quarter, outscoring the Lady Bombers 14-10 with Walk hitting two more three-pointers and having 10 points in the quarter, but BSE continued to hold a big lead 63-36 to end the quarter. A 12-8 run by BSE through the fourth, with eight more points from Haslett for the Bombers and six more points from Whitehead for Vandalia, wrapped up the win for the Lady Bombers as they beat the Lady Vandals 75-44. BSE improves to 15-1 on the season and will be back at home tonight as they host Nokomis. Vandalia drops to 4-11 and will be at home again on Thursday as they return to South Central Conference action, hosting Pana.
