South Central girls basketball put together a second half comeback run, but didn’t have enough in the tank to finish off Neoga as they took a 44-37 loss in National Trail Conference action on Monday night. The Lady Cougars held tight with the Indians in the first half, trailing by two at the end of the first quarter, 13-11, and then trailing by just one point, 20-19, at halftime. Neoga used an 11-4 run to start the third quarter to gain a 31-23 lead but South Central mounted a comeback though and used a 6-0 run to pull within two points, 31-29 by the end of the quarter. In the fourth quarter, South Central hit two shots from the field and Neoga hit three with the difference in the game coming down to the free throw line. The Lady Cougars went 3 of 6 from the line but Neoga shot 10 free throws in the quarter and hit seven to pull away as South Central suffered the 44-37 loss. The Lady Cougars drop to 1-3 on the season and will go on the road later this week when they travel to Ramsey on Thursday.
