The Altamont Lady Indians couldn’t overcome a slow start on Monday night as they were handed a 66-44 loss at St. Anthony in their National Trail Conference opener. The Lady Indians were held to just four points in the opening quarter as the Lady Bulldogs got out to a 20-4 lead over Altamont by the end of the first quarter. Things began clicking together in the second quarter as Altamont hung with St. Anthony but were just outscored 15-12 in the quarter and continued to trail 35-16 at halftime. The Lady Indians were outscored 20-15 in the third quarter as their deficit grew to 55-31 to start the fourth quarter. The teams were even in the fourth, but the first quarter deficit was too much for Altamont to overcome in the game as they took the 68-44 loss. Altamont is now 4-3 on the season and 0-1 in the NTC. They will have another tough matchup on Thursday when they face Nokomis at home.
