Despite getting out to an early first-half lead, the Dieterich Movin’ Maroons could not overcome their second-half struggles, falling to fellow NTC foe North Clay Cardinals 52-43 in the semifinals of the 2025 Cumberland Thanksgiving Tournament. The two teams traded baskets in the first quarter, with Dieterich ending the quarter with a slim 13-11 advantage. The Maroons would once again have a strong offensive quarter going on a 17-14 run to go into the half up 30-25. North Clay would come out strong in the second half, going on a 21-4 run to take a 46-34 lead entering the fourth. Dieterich would outscore the Cardinals 9-6 in the fourth quarter, but the deficit was too much to overcome, as they would fall to North Clay 52-43. The loss drops Dieterich to 1-1 on the season. The Maroons will be back in action on Saturday to take on host Cumberland in the third place game at 4:30.
