Dieterich Beats Ramsey, CHBC Falls to Sandoval on Opening Night of CHBC Girls Thanksgiving Tournament

Dieterich picked up its first win of the season with a win over Ramsey-Mulberry Grove while CHBC fell to Sandoval on the first night of the CHBC Girls Thanksgiving Tournament on Tuesday. In the tournament’s opening game, the Lady Movin’ Maroons and the Rams would battle through four quarters that featured physical play in the paint with Dieterich able to give themselves a enough room late to close out a double digit win, 46-34. After a Shelbyville win over North Clay in the evening’s second game, the host Lady Bobcats faced off with the Lady Hawks and after a slow start that saw them score just a single point in the first quarter, CHBC closed the gap in the second quarter. In the second half, the Bobcats struggled to score for long stretches and had some turnover troubles that allowed Sandoval to pull away just enough for the 33-24 win. All three teams will have double days on Friday to wrap up pool play with Dieterich, now 1-2 on the season and 1-0 in the tournament, playing at noon against Sandoval and 1:30pm against CHBC. Ramsey-Mulberry Grove, now 0-1 in the tournament and 1-2 overall, will play Sandoval at 1:30pm for their second matchup of the season before playing CHBC at 3:00pm. CHBC is still searching for their first win of the season and the tournament as they play Dieterich at 1:30pm and Ramsey at 3:00pm on Friday. The tournament’s place games will then be held on Saturday.
