Mulberry Grove Can't Overcome Slow Start in Opening Pool Play Game of Own Tournament


Mulberry Grove found themselves in an early hole and despite a strong second half, couldn’t catch Father McGivney as they fell 70-45 in their season opener and first game of pool play at their own Thanksgiving Tournament. The Aces were outscored 34-10 in the first quarter, but a back and forth second quarter saw them keeping pace with the Griffins 15-12 in the period, but trailing 49-22 at the half. Mulberry Grove went on a 16-6 run through the third quarter and cut their deficit down to 55-38 to end the third quarter. The Aces were outscored 15-13 in the final eight minutes as they could not get any closer to Father McGivney and suffered the 70-45 loss. Mulberry Grove, now 0-1, will have a day off before they play their second pool play game on Wednesday night against Lebanon at 8:15pm.
