BSE Gets Big Win Over 3A Lincoln to Open Play at Pana Thanksgiving Tournament

Brownstown-St. Elmo opened pool play at the Pana Girls Thanksgiving Tournament in a big way as they got a 49-28 win over Class 3A school Lincoln on Friday night. The Lady Bombers had to overcome a slow start as they were held to just six points in the first quarter, four of them coming on free throws as they trailed 12-6 to start the second quarter. BSE was again held to single digit scoring, putting up just eight points, but the Bombers held the Railsplitters to just four points as they pulled to within two points, trailing just 16-14 at halftime. Much like the latter part of the first half, the Bombers held Lincoln to just two baskets in the third quarter while going on a 17-4 run, including 11 of those points from Dayana Haslett, to take a 31-20 lead heading into the fourth quarter. An 18-8 run through the fourth quarter extended their lead as they would cruise to the 49-28 win. BSE is now 3-0 on the season and will have their double pool play day today, taking on Highland at 11:30am and then facing host Pana at 5:30pm to wrap up their day.

BSE Scoring:

Dayana Haslett – 26 points

Danika Ramsey – 10 points

Madi Miller – 7 points

Addie Sasse – 4 points

Presley Williams – 2 points
