Brownstown-St. Elmo got off to a hot start and rode their first quarter momentum to a rout of Litchfield, 58-21, in their home opener on Thursday night. A pair of three-pointers from Danika Ramsey got the Lady Bombers off to a 6-0 lead before Litchfield scored on back to back possessions to cut BSE’s lead down to 6-5. That would be the last time the Purple Panthers scored in the first half as the Lady Bombers went on a 37-0 run through the latter half of the first quarter and through the second quarter with 12 points from Dayana Haslett, seven points from Presley Williams, six points from Madi Miller, five more from Ramsey and three from Addie Sasse helping to break the game wide open. The Lady Bombers scoring slowed in the third quarter as Litchfield outscored BSE 14-9 in the third quarter, but they continued to hold onto a large lead, 49-19, to trigger running clock heading into the fourth quarter. BSE allowed just one basket to the Purple Panthers in the quarter while closing out the win, 58-21. BSE moves to 2-0 on the year and will have their first major test of the season tonight as they begin play in the Pana Girls Thanksgiving Tournament with their first pool play matchup coming at 6:00pm against Lincoln.
