Dieterich girls basketball fell behind early and couldn’t catch up to St. Anthony as the Lady Movin’ Maroons fell to the Lady Bulldogs 54-26 on Tuesday night in the season opener and National Trail Conference opener for both teams. Dieterich was held to just three points in the first quarter, falling behind 17-3. They picked up their scoring a bit in the second quarter, but a 21-8 run by St. Anthony saw the Maroons trailing 38-11 at halftime. Dieterich held the Bulldogs to single digit scoring in the third quarter but added just four points to the board as they continued to trail 47-15 heading into the final quarter. The Maroons outscored St. Anthony 11-7 in the fourth, but suffered the 54-26 loss. Dieterich will have another tough opponent in their second game of the season as they play on the road for the first time on Friday, taking a short road trip to Effingham.
