The Altamont Lady Indians got out to an early lead and never looked back, coming away with a 74-54 victory over the Vandalia Lady Vandals in the season opener for both teams. Altamont had the three ball working in the first quarter, with Justyce Higgs knocking down two, and Ella Nelson and Reagan Kuenstler each making one, in route to taking a 26-15 lead. The Lady Vandals would chip away at the deficit in the second quarter, narrowly outscoring 10-9, but still trailed 35-25 at half. The two teams would continue to trade buckets in the third quarter, as Vandalia would once again narrowly outscore Altamont 20-19, but Altamont would still hold a 54-45 lead heading into the fourth. The Lady Indians would proceed to go on a 20-9 run in the fourth quarter, to run away with a 74-54 win. The Lady Indians improves to 1-0 on the season. They will be on the road on Friday to take on Marshall. The Lady Vandals fall to 0-1 on the season. They will be in action on Thursday in the Nokomis Tip Off Classic on Thursday to take on Pawnee.
