A pair of local athletes competing at the collegiate level wrapped up their fall seasons recently.
Vandalia grad Conner McCall completed the fall portion of his sophomore golf season for Northern Illinois University, appearing in four of the five tournaments the Huskies competed in during September and October. McCall finished tied for 53rd at the Wisconsin Badger Invitational with a score of 7 over 223 and took 60th at the Jim DeLapa Collegiate hosted by Central Michigan shooting 13 over for the tournament. McCall then tied for 49th at the Purdue Fall Invite with a 9 over 225 before wrapping up the fall with his best showing of the fall tying for 8th place as he shot 2 under par, 3 under par and 4 under par for his three rounds for a 207 at the Quail Valley Collegiate.
Altamont grad Peyton Osteen wrapped up her sophomore season of volleyball for the Lincoln Trail College Lady Statesmen. LTC went 17-10 on the season but failed to qualify for the Region 24 Tournament. Osteen, a setter, finished her sophomore campaign with 193 assists (3rd on the team) with 75 digs, 10 kills, 9 aces and 2 blocks. Osteen finished the season strong averaging 15 assists a match in her last 7 matches of the season including a season high of 24 assists in a 3-2 loss to Vincennes University on October 25.
