Vandals will renew their rivalry with the Comets in Round 2 of the Playoffs this Saturday afternoon

The Vandals will get to take on the Greenville Comets this Saturday in Round 2 of the playoffs, just a few weeks after having their toughest game of the regular season at Greenville.

Back in week 6 of the regular season, the Vandals got a come-from-behind 28 to 18 win at Greenville.  The Comets held the lead for a good amount of the first half and led 11 to 8 heading into the 4th quarter before the Vandals got the offense going.

This Saturday’s Round 2 match up will be the 3rd time the two rivals have met in the playoffs, and all of those matchups have come in the second round.  Back in 2008 at Edwardsville, the Comets defeated the Vandals 28 to 10.  In 2017 at Greenville, the Vandals got the second round playoff win over the Comets, 27 to 14.

From 2000 to 2015, Greenville won 17 consecutive games against the Vandals.  But, the rivalry has looked a lot difference since as the Vandals are 8-3 against the Comets from 2016 to the present.

The Vandals are coming off a 42 to 6 win over CZRE on Saturday afternoon at home while Greenville got a 38 to 35 win at Stanford Olympia.

The two teams will meet at 2 pm on Saturday at Don Stout Field.
