St. Elmo-Brownstown volleyball was able to use a pair of mid-set runs to pull away from Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City in both sets of a 25-18, 25-17 win for the Lady Eagles over the Lady Bobcats in the semifinals of the St. Elmo 1A Regional on Wednesday night. After a tight back and forth battle begin set one with the it tied up at 9-9, SEB used a 10-6 run to get a little room and take a 19-14 lead and work towards a 25-18 set win. After CHBC scored the first point of the second set, the Lady Eagles went on a 8-0 run for an 8-1 lead. CHBC closed the gap to 8-4 but another mid-set run, this time being a run of 11-6, put the Lady Eagles in front of the Lady Bobcats 19-10. Despite the Bobcats matching the Eagles point for point for several volleys, SEB closed out the 25-17 set win to grab the match win in two sets. CHBC ends their season at 12-22 while SEB is now 20-12 on the season and advances to the Regional Championship game tonight where they will face Okawville at 6:00pm at St. Elmo High School.
