Vandals Football rolls to big win for Homecoming-improve to 7-0

The Vandals scored early and often in the first half, on their way to a big win for Homecoming as they defeated the Staunton Bulldogs, 56 to 21, on Friday night at Mark Greer Field.

The Vandals scored on all but one of their first half possessions.  They got it rolling with 3 first quarter TDs and opened the lead up to 35 to 0.  Staunton would get on the board about midway through the 2nd quarter when they recovered a fumble after sacking Qwentyn Stombaugh and giving themselves a short field.  Staunton would then recover the onside kick and would get a couple of solid runs out of a different formation and look before the Vandals defense stiffened and stopped Staunton on a 4th down.  The Vandals got the ball back and then opened the lead up to 49 to 8 at halftime to get the game into running clock for the entire 2nd half.

Kohnor Depew rushed for 102 yards and a TD and also had 139 yards receiving and 2 TDs.  Qwentyn Stombaugh threw for 262 yards as the Vandals rolled up 419 yards of offense–most of that in the first half.

The Vandals are now 7-0 on the season.  They will be on the road for Week 8 as they will travel to North Mac to take on the 2-5 Panthers.
