Altamont Baseball Advances to NTC Semifinals Behind Shutout From Miller


The Altamont Indians used a five-run third inning, and a dominant pitching performance from Zaine Miller to advance to the semifinals of the NTC Tournament, getting a 7-0 win over the Neoga Indians on Monday. The Indians got on the board in the top of the first inning when Kade Milleville singled and later stole second. Miller would then single up the middle to score Milleville to give Altamont a 1-0 lead. After a scoreless second inning, Altamont would blow the game open in the bottom of the third, after loading the bases, Brayden Elam would single to score Milleville to make it a 2-0 game. Kaiden Wollf would then reach on an error to score Miller, and a Blake Berg sacrifice fly would allow Elam to score, giving the Indians a 4-0 lead. Will Reardon would cap off the scoring for the Indians with a two RBI single, to push their lead to 6-0. Altamont would get one more run across in the fourth when Milleville doubled, and would come home to score after stealing third and coming home to score on a throwing error to make their lead 7-0. Miller would hold Neoga to just two hits throughout the entire ballgame, helping Altamont punch their ticket to the NTC semifinals with a 7-0 win. The win improves the Indians to 10-9 on the year. They will take on North Clay on Wednesday at 4 PM.
