The Vandals got on the board early and didn’t let up on their way to a 49 to 6 win over Gillespie at Mark Greer Field on Saturday night.
The Vandals got on the board early on with 3 Touchdowns in the 1st quarter and kept rolling with 2 more in the 2nd to lead 35 to 0 at halftime. The Vandals would get on the board just 25 seconds into the 3rd quarter to get the lead to 42 to 0 and get into continuous clock to make for a quick night.
Qwentyn Stombaugh threw for 220 yards and 3 TDs and also rushed for 79 yards and a score for the Vandals. Kohnor Depew had 110 receiving yards and 3 TDs and Dillon Hinton rushed for 2 TDs and also had a strong night on defense. The Vandals got a strong night from their defensive unit from several individuals including Bryce Hartlieb, Sam Bowers, Cole Yarbrough, Isaac Forbes and others as they stopped the rushing game of the Miners and put pressure on their quarterback on any passing play.
The Vandals are now 5-0 on the season. They will travel this Friday night to Don Stout Field to take on the 3-2 Greenville Comets.
