Dieterich Gets Five Inning Win Over CHBC

Dieterich used a six-run fourth inning to open up the game and CHBC had trouble sustaining a couple late game offensive bursts as the Maroons beat the Bobcats, 13-3, in five innings on Friday evening. The Maroons opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning with two runs coming off of back to back RBI singles by Andrew Hall and Jackson Icenogle for a 2-0 lead. An inning later, the Maroons doubled their lead to 4-0 in the bottom of the second inning, scoring on a Bobcat error and a RBI single from Gavin Meinhart. CHBC cut the Dieterich lead in half in the top of the third inning when they scored a pair of runs on an error by the Maroons to make it 4-2. Dieterich responded by adding another run in the third on a RBI single from Mason Lidy to push their lead back to three runs, 5-2. After a scoreless top of the fourth, the Maroons offense really got going with a single from Bryce Bonhoff that would bring in a pair of runs followed by a single from Lidy that would then bring in another run on an ensuing throwing error during the play to put Dieterich up 8-2. One more run came in on a sacrifice fly from Justin Boerngen and Dominic Ashley singled to bring in two more runs to push the lead to 11-2 for the Maroons. CHBC threatened in the top of the fifth inning putting their first two batters in by way of a ground ball error and a double to center field before C Ondes singled to center field to score one run as CHBC cut the Dieterich lead to 11-3. With runners at the corners for the Bobcats they put the ball in the air, but a line out to right field and a fly out to centerfield ended the threat. Hall singled to lead off the bottom of the fifth and Icenogle again followed with an RBI single to push the Maroon lead to 12-3. An error on a fly ball put runners at second and third for Dieterich before a passed ball allowed Icenogle to score from third and give Dieterich the run rule win, 13-3. Dieterich is now 7-8 on the season and will play again on Monday at T-Town. CHBC is now 3-8 and will play at Brownstown-St. Elmo on Monday.
