The Cowden Herrick/Beecher City Bobcats took the lead in the top of the fifth inning, and never looked back, getting a 6-2 win over the Wayne City Indians at Greenville University on Thursday as part of the MTC/EIC Tournament. The Bobcats got on the board in the top of the first when Isaac Wells singled to score Clive Schlanser. That lead would be short-lived, however, as the Indians would score a pair of runs in the bottom of the first to take the lead 2-1. That score would hold until the top of the fifth inning when Schlanser would hit a two-out single, and come home to score on a single from Kale Hardimon to tie the game at two. CHBC would take the lead on a double from Ben Askins to make the score 3-2. The Bobcats would add on three insurance runs in the top of the seventh, highlighted by Schalnser’s third hit of the night, and a triple from Hardimon to secure the 6-2 victory. The win improves CHBC to 3-8 on the season. The Bobcats will be back in action on Monday to take on Brownstown/St. Elmo.
