Vandalia Soccer Wins Two Straight This Week

The Vandalia soccer team picked up their first two wins of the season this week with a win on the road on Monday and another at home on Wednesday. The Vandals traveled to Jacksonville on Monday and were able to get a 4-0 win over Illinois School for the Deaf. Garrett McGinness had two goals in the game while Cole Durbin and Nic Jackson scored one goal each in the game. Javier Gutierrez had a clean sheet in goal with the shutout for the day. Vandalia was set to be back at home on Tuesday against Taylorville, but due to rain and storms coming through the area, the game was pushed to Wednesday. The Vandals came out and took a 2-0 lead in the first half before tacking on another goal midway through the second half and secured the 3-0 win. Jackson had two goals and Durbin had one goal in the win while Gutierrez again had a shut out in goal. The Vandals are now 2-9-2 on the season and will try to make it three in a row today when they travel to Pana for a South Central Conference game against the Panthers.
