The Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City boys cross country team took fifth place while senior August Cosart took second overall individually for the boys and Zoe Sarver was the top finisher for the Lady Bobcats on Saturday at the Shelbyville Trail Invite.
On the boys side of the meet, CHBC would finish behind first place and host Shelbyville, NTC rival St. Anthony, Mattoon and Sullivan in the team standings. Individually, Cosart would run a time of 15:53.64 to come in behind top finisher Johnathan Iacobazzi of Sullivan. Team scoring runners for the Bobcats were junior Porter Lilly who ran 18:28.47 for 33rd, freshman Eli Maxedon ran a PR time of 18:32.81 for 35th, sophomore Kaiden Garrido had a season record time of 19:50.94 for 56th and sophomore Deacon Sutter ran a time of 20:51.97 for 78th. The Bobcats were rounded out by sophomore Charlie Witteborg who ran a PR time of 20:54.15 for 79th and freshman Kaisyn Calame who ran a time of 21:52.14 for 91st.
On the girls side, Sarver ran a time of 21:42.70 for 27th place while freshman Eve Flores ran a PR time of 23:16.07 for 32nd place. Junior Laney Doty ran a PR time of 24:15.57 to place 46th and freshman Harper Lilly ran a time of 25:05.44 in her first high school race to come in 57th.
The Bobcats and Lady Bobcats will be back in action today as they host their first home meet of the season at Cowden Park.
