The Altamont Lady Indians got their first conference win of the season, getting a thrilling three-set win over the South Central Lady Cougars 26-24, 21-25, 25-18 on Monday night. The first set would be a back-and-forth battle that saw multiple ties and lead changes, but Altamont would come out on top 26-24. South Central would respond in the second set by jumping out to a 10-4 lead, and increased it to 15-10 midway through the set. The Lady Indians would close the gap to 21-19, but the Lady Cougars would go on a 4-2 run to get the 25-21 set win. The Lady Indians would come out firing in the deciding set, jumping out to an 11-2 lead, before South Central would begin to close the gap to 11-9. After a timeout, the Lady Indians would go on a 7-2 run before the Lady Cougars would once again close the gap, going on a 5-1 run of their own to make the score 18-16. It would be all Altamont from the rest of the way, as they would go on a 7-2 run to come away with the 25-18 win. With the win, Altamont improves to 3-7-2 on the season, and 1-2 in the NTC. They will be at home on Tuesday to take on Neoga. South Central falls to 3-8 on the season, and 1-3 in NTC play. The Lady Cougars will be off until Saturday, when they will compete in the Vandalia Tournament.
