Vandalia Jr. High Baseball Advances to Regional Championship Game


Vandalia Jr. High baseball has earned a chance to compete for a regional championship after getting a 4-1 Regional Semifinal win over Robinson Nuttall on Saturday. The Vandals would play ahead the whole game after kicking the game off with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning on an RBI single from Jaxton Carroll and a base loaded hit by pitch of Lane Cearlock for a 2-0 Vandals lead. Vandalia edged their lead out to 3-0 in the bottom of the third inning when Evan Peyton drew a bases loaded walk. A wild pitch by the Nuttall in the bottom of the fourth allowed the Vandals Luke Doehring to score from third and push Vandalia’s lead to 4-0. Robinson got on the board with their first and only run in the top of the fifth inning to cut the Vandals lead to 4-1 which would hold and give the Vandals the 4-1 win. Vandalia moves to 14-1-1 on the season and they advance to the Championship game of the Effingham 3A Regional where they will have to face the host Mustangs at 4:00pm on Wednesday at the Effingham High School Sports Complex.
