The South Central Middle School Lady Falcons made it a four-peat on Saturday, beating Dieterich 6-1 in the Regional Championship game of the Albion 1-A Regional. SCMS got on the scoreboard first, plating two runs in the top of the first inning on a fielder’s choice that brought in Skylar Webster and from Rylan Williams tagging up at third base on a fly ball to centerfield as the Lady Falcons went up 2-0. SCMS doubled their lead in the top of the third inning as Claire Chasteen singled to get on base and Bella McDowell would hit a 2-run home run to make it 4-0 Lady Falcons. Dieterich was able to put up their only run in the bottom of the third as Addison Icenogle scored on a wild pitch to cut the South Central lead to 4-1. The Lady Falcons got that run back plus one in the top of the sixth inning on a 2 RBI line drive single from Rya Sidwell to score Alexa Gile and Lexy Garrett for a 6-1 Lady Falcons lead. Dieterich was able to load the bases with two outs in the bottom of the inning, but South Central got out of the inning unscathed. The seventh inning went by scoreless for each team as the Lady Falcons would lock down the 6-1 win and the Regional Championship. The title makes four straight after the Lady Falcons won Regional Championships in 2022, 2023 and 2024 and went on to the Elite Eight all three of those years and also went on to finish fourth at last year’s State Tournament. South Central will now look to see if they can make it four straight Sectional titles as well as they will travel to Hutsonville on Tuesday to take on Martinsville at 4:30pm at Hutson Memorial Park. Martinsville heads into the matchup at 7-5 on the season while the Lady Falcons now stand at 17-4.
