The Brownstown-St. Elmo Bombers baseball team found itself in an early hole and couldn’t overcome that deficit in an 8-3 loss to Woodlawn at home on Saturday morning. The Cardinals put up two first inning runs for an early lead before tacking on one more in the second and three runs in the third to take a 6-0 lead over BSE. The Bombers brought their first run across the plate in the bottom of the fourth inning to cut it to 6-1. Woodlawn responded with two more runs in the top of the fifth though to push their lead out to 8-1. BSE was able to add one more run in each of the fifth and sixth innings to draw themselves to within five runs, 8-3, but a scoreless seventh inning would finish off the game as the Bombers took the loss. BSE is now 3-8 on the season and will jump back into National Trail Conference action on Tuesday as they will host Windsor/Stew-Stras.
