The Vandals took care of their road trip to Pana, coming home with a 40 to 26 win over the Panthers.
Pana got on the board first, putting together a solid drive on their first possession that saw them with a 1st and goal deep in Vandals territory. But, the Vandals defense kept them out of the end zone and they ended up having to settle for a 25 yard Field Goal to take a 3-0 lead. The Vandals then struck back just over 2 minutes later in the game as Qwentyn Stombaugh connected with Kohnor Depew on a 68 yard TD to give the Vandals a 6 to 3 lead. The Vandals would never trail after that and would score on the final play of the 1st quarter on a 2 yard Stombaugh run to get the lead to 12 to 3. After Pana closed the gap to 12 to 10, the Vandals would add another score on a 25 yard Stombaugh run to get it to a 20 to 10 lead for the Vandals at halftime.
In the second half, Pana would score midway through the 3rd quarter and cut it to just a 2 point Vandals lead at 20 to 18. But, the Vandals would get a score on their next possession capped off by a Stombaugh 5 yard run to get the lead back to 26 to 18. The Vandals would then get another score on a Stombaugh to Depew connection from 21 yards to get the lead to 33 to 18. Pana would cut it to a 1 score game before the Vandals would grind out a nice drive to eat up clock and finish it off with a 10 yard Stombaugh run for the 40 to 26 win.
For the Vandals, they improve to 3-0 on the season. They will now be at home the next 2 weeks as they will host 0-3 Southwestern this coming Friday night.
