Ramsey Finishes 1-2, Vandalia Goes 0-3 in Pool Play of Montgomery County Invitational Tournament


Vandalia and Ramsey volleyball both had a full night of action on Friday, competing in pool play of the Montgomery County Invitational with the Lady Rams going 1-2 in the “HOPE” pool while Vandalia went 0-3 in the “Beat INAD” pool.

Ramsey opened up pool play with a tough three set loss to Lincolnwood 16-25, 25-21, 15-7 and took another tough loss in two sets 25-22, 25022 to Riverton before getting a late night three set win over Springfield Lanphier 25-23, 21-25, 15-9. The Lady Rams pool play finish puts them into the Bronze bracket for the place day at the tournament and will face South County at 12:00pm in the Hillsboro 2nd Gym and will face either Mt. Olive or Springfield Southeast in their second game.

Vandalia had a tough draw to open up their pool play having to face #3 state ranked and undefeated Nokomis for the second time in seven days and took was handed a 25-6, 25-15 loss. The Lady Vandals then fell in two sets to Springfield Southeast 17-25, 18-25 before playing the final game of pool play against Auburn and suffering a 17-25, 17-25 loss to Auburn. Vandalia will now go to the Copper bracket for Saturday’s final day and will face North Mac at 11:00am in Hillsboro’s Main Gym and will face either Springfield Lanphier or Litchfield in their second game.
