Our Pro Wire Athlete of the Week for September 13 is the Vandalia High School football team.
The Vandals are off to a 3-0 start to the season with wins over Carlinville, Hillsboro and most recently, a 40-26 win over state-ranked Pana on the road on Friday night. The Vandals have played at Pana several times in the last handful of years, but this was the first win for the Vandals at Brummett Field since the Covid-shortened and shifted 2020-2021 season. The Vandals sit tied at the top of the South Central Conference standings with Staunton who is also 3-0 and they will return home for a Week 4 matchup with Southwestern this coming Friday.
